Heritage Kefir Starter Grains

Kefir grains are small white balls containing billions of microorganisms that transform milk into tasty kefir, a probiotic fermented drink that can improve digestion and strengthen the immune system.

An order contains a good teaspoon of kefir culture grains, enough to create 2-3 cups of kefir in 24-36 hours. 

You will receive the kefir culture grains only, NOT fermented kefir.

Description

Milk kefir grains visually resemble small cauliflowers clumped together, and are used to turn milk into kefir. These strange little clumps contain a bunch of beneficial bacteria and yeast that live in symbiosis. Both are activated when mixed with milk to create creamy, tangy, and slightly fizzy milk kefir.

Our kefir grains come from a heritage culture, cultivated for centuries by the Amish in Pennsylvania. 

They work in store-bought milk as well as raw milk (cow & goat). In general, the more natural the milk used, the better the kefir.

This is a local pick up only item.

Because kefir grains are cultivated in dairy, small amounts of dairy might be present upon delivery, please see “Additional Information’ section for a list of possible allergens.
